This piece became famous when it was used as the soundtrack to Bo Widerberg’s film Elvira Madigan. I’ve chosen it partly because it’s a mirror image of the first piece. There the tragic tone hides the grace underneath. With this one the grace is right on the surface, so clear that you hardly register the dark undertones beneath. It’s played here by Vassily Primakov and the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
