Although within TV circles Gilligan was respected for his work on The X Files, Breaking Bad has been transformative for both his and Cranston's careers. Gilligan has already confirmed that a spin-off show, Better Call Saul, is underway and Cranston's new film, Godzilla, will be released later this year. Cranston has also been linked to the role of Lex Luthor in the Superman film franchise, although he has denied these rumours.
