And sure enough, Knack is a unique but identifiable character, the swirling objects forming around a totemic head. Fearsome but friendly, Knack has the makings of an early PS4 mascot. Though Cerny plays down the idea - “the platform is so much larger than any one game or character” - the fact that Knack recalls Crash, Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter is no accident. Cerny worked on all of those series, while the team behind the game, Sony Japan Studio, is made up of alumni from games such as Shadow of the Colossus, Ape Escape and Gravity Rush.
