She didn’t use euphemistic language to hint at teenage sexuality and the risk of flashing pants in assembly. Lewis built her argument on the grounds of graft and aspiration; on school as a place to learn; a place in which she is in charge. With more heads like her, we’d have a decent chance of teaching girls how to live ‘like a lady’.
